Day Tours from Derby - coming soon
I'm a registered ride leader for the CTC, with over 10 years experience. I'm bikeability trained, and with a St John's Ambulance First Aid (Sports) certificate, and have arranged hostel/B&B tours for other members of my group quite often.
Day Tours - Erewash Valley - Industrial heartland. Look at the remains of the mining and steel industries, while traversing the Valley. (25 miles)
City of Derby - Romans, Railways and Royces. See Mercian Cycles and the new Velodrome. Gentle urban ride for the more leisurely cyclist (15 miles).
Ashbourne - Historic Market / Coaching Stop Town also known as the Gateway to the Peak. Why not increase your current 30 miles to a hilly 40?
Leicestershire lanes. The hidden gem ; The Vale of Belvoir. Out and back through Kegworth, from then on into the beautiful quiet lanes of Leicestershire. (minimum 25 miles)
The Bass Ride- Starting in Derby, calling at a couple of sites in the city, before heading to Burton on Trent, looking at the legacy of Michael Bass, Derby MP and son of the Bass founder. We finish for a pint of the best beer in a Derby hostelry. (35 miles)
I can also design a ride going to the places you'd like to visit. Let me know where you want to go.
All these rides use occasional short stretches of main roads, but are mainly on lanes, or Sustrans Trails. All will start from my base in Alvaston - a meal can be arranged at the end of the day to complete a good day on the bike. Overnight accommodation (bring a sleeping bag), or I can recommend a local hotel or B&B. Camping available nearby at Elvaston Castle Country Park.
Good quality cafe stops. Cashless option, with a bill at the end of the day for some of these rides if required.
Please leave a message and I can spend time discussing the options. Prices will be calculated depending on attendees.
